The Detroit Red Wings acquire a $13 million defenseman to bolster their blue line in a trade scenario with the San Jose Sharks proposed in a new report.
Although everyone can agree the Red Wings are off to a great start this season and that the team plays like a playoff-contending organization, flaws can still be seen in the lineup.
Most analysts agree that the Wings would benefit from adding depth to their blue line.
Sharks And Red Wings Linked In New Trade Scenario
Even if Steve Yzerman is much more likely to go after long-term options than rentals at the trade deadline, rumors are circulating about a potential deal between the Wings and the Sharks involving
Mario Ferraro.
"The Red Wings could be another team to keep an eye on when it comes to Ferraro. It is clear that their blueline could use a bit of a boost, and bringing in a player like Ferraro would undoubtedly make their roster stronger."
The Sharks appear poised to be sellers at the trade deadline once again this year, but there is still time for the young core in San Jose to lift the team to the next level.
Ferraro, 27, tallied two points in 10 games this season, with a -7 +/-, which isn't bad considering his team has only won two games so far.
At this point, fans would love to see Yzerman make a more impactful addition, but it's hard to predict who'll be available on the market this early in the season.
