The Detroit Red Wings have announced that Patrick Kane is once again coming back on a 1-year deal, the 2nd straight year he's re-signed on June 30.
The show goes on in Detroit, as the Red Wings have officially announced that Patrick Kane will be coming back for another year.
The future Hall of Famer has agreed to a 1-year extension with the Red Wings for what will be his 2nd full year with the club that he joined in December of 2023.
It's also the 2nd year in a row that Kane has re-signed with the Red Wings on June 30, the official eve of the start of the NHL's free agency period.
Kane got off to a slower start in 2024-25 under coach Derek Lalonde but quickly began to thrive after the coaching change was made to Todd McLellan in late December.
He finished with 59 points (21G, 39A) in 72 games.
During his end-of-season interview, Kane expressed an interest in coming back to the Red Wings for another year.
Last year, I felt like I sat up here and I was talking about security and maybe multi-year contracts, and then, you know, a month, couple weeks later, you think completely different. So, I think those are conversations that still need to be had with myself, my family, people closest to me, my agent and obviously with the organization, and figure all that out.
