Win totals bet are out in the NHL and it's not looking good for the Detroit Red Wings
As the NHL season approaches, our betting insights offer an early look at potential wagers based on team projections.
Over the past two seasons, our projections have successfully identified profitable bets, including back-to-back Presidents' Trophy winners. Here's a breakdown of the best bets, categorized by point totals, playoff chances, and futures.
Point Totals and Playoffs
Red WingsUnder 90.5 points, -120 (Stake: 7.5%)
No playoffs, -162 (7%)
The Red Wings are my biggest fade this season. A total of 90.5 points seems overly generous for a team that barely hit 91 last year. With a poor expected goals percentage and no substantial offseason improvements, it's hard to envision a playoff path.
Despite last year's high PDO, the Canucks have the shooting and goaltending talent to bounce back. With a deep forward group and improved puck control, the 97.5-point line is appealing.
St. Louis's surprising performance last year seems unsustainable, especially with weak five-on-five expected goals and a lacklustre power play.
The Islanders boast an underrated core, and with
Ilya Sorokin expected to have a bounce-back season, they should exceed last year's totals.
Betting responsibly is crucial, especially with futures where funds are tied up throughout the season. Designating a portion of your bankroll specifically for futures can help manage risks while still allowing for action throughout the year. As always, the landscape can change quickly in the NHL, so keep an eye on developments as the season unfolds!
