BREAKING: Big signing for a former Red Wing
Vancouver Canucks extend Filip Hronek with a 8-year deal with a $7.25M AAV
Filip Hronek just committed to the Vancouver team until he's 34 years old. The contract includes a full NMC from the year 2025 to 2028 and a 5-year NTC from 2028 to 2032. He will receive signing bonuses in all seasons except 2026-27.
His salary will have a range from $6.75 million in 2026-27 to $3.7 million in 2028-29, 2030-31 and 2031-32. Hronek's new deal as a UFA will make him tied for the 30th-highest cap hit of all the defensemen next season.
Last season, Hronek had five goals and 43 assists for 48 points in 81 games with the Canucks. In the playoffs, he scored one goal and notched one assist in 13 games. In 2023, he was playing for the Detroit Red Wings but he then was traded to the Canucks in 2023. The Canucks have around $17 million in salary cap space after Hronek's extension.
