Ex-Detroit Red Wings hockey career reportedly could be saved by the New York Rangers
A former Detroit Red Wings player is reportedly being considered as a PTO option by the New York Rangers organization.
The New York Rangers had a disappointing season last year. After winning the Presidents' Trophy in 2023-24, they failed to make the playoffs, finishing 5th in the Metropolitan Division with a 39-36-7 record.
The season was marked by major trades.
Despite acquiring
J.T. Miller,
Carson Soucy, prospects, and other assets, the team still has many holes to fill in the lineup.
According to a new report, a former Red Wings player could be a valuable addition for the Rangers.
Rangers Reportedly Interested In Signing Robby Fabbri To PTO
Professional tryouts are a great option for teams looking for low-risk, affordable additions before the season begins.
The report suggests that taking a chance on a player like Fabbri makes a lot of sense.
After signing Connor Sheary to a similar deal earlier this offseason, Drury could be interested in pursuing Fabbri.
The 29-year-old, 5-foot-11, 185-lb center is coming off a 16-point, 44-game season with the Ducks.
Drafted by the Blues in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft, he won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2018.
Over his career, he has played 442 games for the Blues, Red Wings, and Ducks, tallying 106 goals and 110 assists.
With plenty of cap space, the Rangers could make significant additions during the season. With rumors suggesting that some teams may give up on the playoffs this year due to the Gavin McKenna lottery draft,
adding Fabbri to a PTO until a trade for a top player can be completed could be a smart move.
