Gary Bettman refuses the return of Milan Lucic former Boston Bruins in the NHL
Milan Lucic's hopes of returning to the NHL appear to be in jeopardy, as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman seems to be holding off on approving his comeback.
Milan Lucic has been training in New Jersey over the summer, aiming to return to the league. However, his path back has been complicated by legal issues stemming from his arrest in Boston last November, where he faced charges that were later dropped in February 2024 after his wife invoked marital privilege and declined to testify.
Milan Lucic took an indefinite leave of absence from his team following the arrest and chose not to return to the ice. After his contract expired on June 30th, he became an unrestricted free agent but has yet to sign with any NHL team. As Lucic remains in the NHLPA Player Assistance program, his future in the league is uncertain, with Gary Bettman's approval being a significant hurdle. This could potentially mark the end of Milan Lucic's NHL career.
