4-Player trade between the Detroit Red Wings and Penguins has been proposed that leaves many unhappy
A proposed trade between the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins is leaving one fanbase unhappy.
The offseason is always filled with rumors and speculations as teams prepare for the next season, and a recent proposal has stirred up plenty of backlash - particularly in Detroit.
While some Penguins fans see it as an opportunity to add young talent to rebuild around
Sidney Crosby, most Red Wings fans are having none of it.
Red Wings fans unhappy with proposed trade with Penguins
Fans voiced their frustration clearly on X:
"Not giving up Nate for either one of them.
Go get Karlsson for sure if you can, Rust is more of a trailer on his line, so his price should be generally lower. You can move Burger, a C+ prospect and a B- pick & some later ones if you want. But you can't move Nate for aging vets."
From Detroit's perspective, giving up a key piece like Nate Danielson - widely considered as a potential top-six center - for older veterans on hefty contracts simply doesn't align with GM Steve Yzerman's long-term strategy:
"Yzerman would never trade Danielson for an aging overpriced d-man and Bryan Rust just to «maybe get back in the playoffs» a bit ahead of schedule. Have you been paying attention to his style at all since he got here?"
While the deal might have some appeal, it feels like a win-now move for a team that isn't quite there yet. For Penguins fans, the idea of retooling with younger assets is enticing. But at this price, Detroit is unlikely to accept such a deal.
