Detroit Red Wings debut brand new top line at team practice
The Detroit Red Wings organization officially put together a new top line at today's team practice ahead of their second preseason game.
In a new development live from the team's morning skate, the Wings officially decided to promote him to the top line.
Red Wings Head Coach Todd McLellan Tries New Top Line At Team Practice
Although the Wings head coach Todd McLellan stated to not read too much into the lines during the preseason, he showed a lot of faith in a prospect that stood out from the others by giving him an opportunity to play alongside
Lucas Raymond and
Dylan Larkin on the first line, in the regular group.
Check out the full lineup here:
Raymond-Larkin-Finnie
DeBrincat-Kasper-Kane
Rasmussen-Copp-Appleton
Soderblom-Compher-Berggren
Chiarot-Seider
Johansson-Hamonic
Gustafsson-Holl
Mitchell-Bernard Docker
There is a case to be made that Finnie should make the team at the start of the regular season. It may not be on the first line, but putting him there for practice or a preseason game will be a great way to test him.
The Wings will be back in action tomorrow night to face their division rivals, the Buffalo Sabres.
It'll be interesting to see if the main group will be sent on the ice for the first time after giving chances to the younger guys last night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
With another game on Friday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, it wouldn't be surprising to see two completely different groups on the ice for the two games.
Stay tuned for updates from the Wings' practice ahead of the upcoming back-to-back preseason games later this week.
