According to a report from The Athletic's Corey Pronman, the Detroit Red Wings forward Jonatan Berggren is a waiver wire candidate.

The beginning of the season requires teams to trim the roster further, and 2nd-round pick Jonatan Berggren could be the next candidate to be placed on waivers by the Red Wings, according to The Athletic's Corey Pronman.
The former 33rd-overall pick has had his chances to make an impact in the lineup, and during his short NHL career, he's played 154 games and scored 58 points (29-29).
Berggren has been given multiple opportunities to prove he's worth a shot in the top-six and hasn't been able to make it work..

Jonatan Berggren The Next Red Wings Forward To Be Sent Packing?

Jonatan Berggren will have to push himself to stay on the radar of the Red Wings. Last season in 75 games, he scored 24 points (12-12) and was unable to perform up to expectations.
If he isn't up to the challenge, he could find his spot taken by other prospects, like Michael Brandsegg-Nygard or Nate Danielson.
"As Detroit's recent first-round picks at forward continue to progress, Berggren could get squeezed out. He's an excellent skater with a high skill level, but he's not dynamic enough offensively as a small winger who isn't hard to play against to lock down a spot long-term. At some point, it feels like his time in Detroit will come to an end when someone like Nate Danielson or Michael Brandsegg-Nygaard makes the team. That time could come as soon as this fall."

Berggren will be competing with Brandsegg-Nygard and Danielson for a spot in the lineup. Training camp has been an exciting experience for us, Red Wings fans, as we've seen players like Emmitt Finnie and Danielson impose their will on opposing teams.
The only question is now, where will Berggren end up if not on the Red Wings roster, will he head back to the Griffins, or will he be claimed?
