A Detroit Red Wings forward criticized the officials at the IIHF World Championships in an interview on a Finnish outlet.

Steve Yzerman has never been one to shy away from criticizing referees back when he was a player, and has kept doing it as general manager.
A new development must make the Red Wings GM happy with a recent signing.
Indeed, Eduards Tralmaks, an undrafted player who signed a one-year deal in Detroit last March, lashed out at referees in an interview live from the IIHF World Championship.

Currently competing for Latvia at the World Championship in Sweden, Eduards Tralmaks revealed that he didn't want to get into trouble for criticizing the refs, but still said he didn't agree with all the penalties called on his team in Saturday's game against Finland:
"I don't really know how people here feel about talking about referees, so maybe I won't say anything. I don't want to get into trouble."

"I'm not going to question every one of our penalties, because some of them were clear penalties, but not all of them. Some plays were just normal. Those wouldn't be penalties in the NHL playoffs."

Tralmaks was in the penalty box when Finland scored the game-winning goal in the third period, but has been one of the best players for his team so far in the tournament.
With seven points in seven games, including a goal earlier today against Austria, Tralmaks could surprise many people at the Red Wings training camp next fall.
Last season, the 28-year-old veteran scored 51 points in 48 games with the Kladno Knights, Jaromir Jagr's team.
While he never played in the NHL, Tralmaks spent three years in North America, playing for the Providence Bruins in the AHL between 2020 and 2023. He also played a few games in the ECHL.
