After Monday's game vs the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin has narrowly avoided a hefty $5,000 fine after incurring heavy backlash for embellishment.

While Monday's Red Wings 5-3 victory against their rival the Ottawa Senators, was a great victory, it was clouded by something else.
Captain Dylan Larkin did something dishonest while playing offense. He'd be touched by Claude Giroux's stick. The resulting motion was physically impossible, as Larkin would take a dive.
The embellishment would be observed far and wide by NHL fans alike.
Needless to say, his fall would earn him a penalty, sending veteran Giroux to the penalty box.
The veteran Senators forward would be unhappy after the fact, considering he didn't harm Larkin at all.
See below:
While the game is all about taking advantage of a frustrated opponent and drawing penalties, this was the wrong way to do it.
Fortunately, Larkin has avoided a $5,000 fine. Typically, at the end of the sentence, if a player receives a fine, we add "max allowed by the CBA," depending on the situation, but we won't have to today.

Red Wings' Dylan Larkin's performance on Monday overshadowed by embellishment

Monday night, Larkin scored his 22nd goal of the campaign, and 264th of his career. The milestone Larkin completed tied him with Nicklas Lidstrom for 11th amongst goal scorers as a Red Wing.
The team found a way to score by committee to overwhelm the Senators, as he was one of 10 players who tallied a point on Monday.
His embellishment aside, he's continued to be a productive player for a Red Wings team that has playoff aspirations this year. With Larkin praising an intriguing rookie as a role model this season, can he learn not to embellish from him?
