The Detroit Red Wings prospect pool is gaining recognition, with five players making it into EP Rinkside's top 100 prospects.
Four of these prospects are ranked in the top 50, although none cracked the top 25. Leading the way for the Detroit Red Wings is Norwegian forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, ranked 35th overall. Drafted 15th in 2024, he represents the highest-ranked Detroit Red Wings prospect on the list.
Following closely are defenseman Axel Sandin Pellikka at 37th, center Marco Kasper at 47th, and forward Nate Danielson at 50th. While Detroit boasts depth, the absence of a top-tier prospect is noticeable. Only the San Jose Sharks have more prospects in the top 50, led by Macklin Celebrini, the top-ranked prospect overall.
Simon Edvinsson, who has already played 25 games with the Detroit Red Wings, was not included in the rankings, as he is considered to have graduated from prospect status. Shai Buium, a defenseman drafted 36th overall, is ranked 88th and is set to play for the Grand Rapids Griffins this season.
Marco Kasper and Nate Danielson are likely candidates to see NHL action this season, while Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and Axel Sandin Pellikka will continue their development in Sweden. The Detroit Red Wings' deep prospect pool reflects the team's strong drafting but highlights the need for true elite talent.
