Today in Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers battled it out on the ice while season-plaguing injuries pile up.

The Edmonton Oilers arrived on Detroit Red Wings home ice today and suffered a 4-2 defeat.
The win marked the Red Wings' fifth of the year, while the Oilers had other misfortunes to count after the game.
Along with the Red Wings, that have a list of who's who, injured and out of the lineup, including Patrick Kane and Lucas Raymond.
The Oilers added another name to the onslaught of injuries plaguing the 2025-26 NHL season: Kasperi Kapanen.

Kasperi Kapanen Leaves the Game Against the Detroit Red Wings Injured

Forward Kasperi Kapanen of the Edmonton Oilers had to leave the game early after suffering an injury.
The Oilers were ultimately set back while Kapanen was ruled out of the lineup, as they were already down against the upstart Red Wings, who led the game 3-1.
The forward left the game playing on 5:43 time on ice, an unfortunate loss for the Oilers.
In the last five games for the team, he tallied 1 point (1A) and 13 hits, and has averaged 13:36 time on ice for the Oilers.
Kapanen was claimed off waivers by General Manager Stan Bowman from the St. Louis Blues.
He signed a one-year deal with the Oilers to stick around as a depth option for the contending team.
And another joins the ever-growing list of NHL players who are out injured this season.
