An NHL insider provided an important update in Steve Yzerman's trade talks, suggesting the Detroit Red Wings could make a big acquisition soon.

According to Frank Seravalli, the Red Wings are still very much in the market for a top-six forward.
They're hardly alone in that pursuit, as Seravalli also listed the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues, Seattle Kraken, and Los Angeles Kings as teams actively looking for offensive help:
Yzerman already made changes over the last couple of weeks, adding players like John Gibson and Jacob Bernard-Docker, but if the team wants to return to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years next spring, more will be needed.
Seravalli's report didn't link Detroit to any specific names, but given the high number of teams that want to add top forwards, it wouldn't be shocking to see Yzerman try to move quickly before the market dries up. Whether it's pulling the trigger on a blockbuster for a high-end winger or finding a creative way to add secondary scoring, the pressure is clearly mounting.
All of them have been involved in trade rumors in the past weeks, suggesting their names were at least thrown around in talks by their organizations.
In Detroit, Erik Karlsson (even if the Wings were recently warned about him), Jason Robertson, Dougie Hamilton, Martin Necas, Marco Rossi, and Nazem Kadri are surely on the team's radar as we get closer to the start of training camps.
