Former Detroit Red Wings goalie Dominik Hasek is being blasted by one of his former teammates, who had some rather stunning things to say about him.
Former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek is typically looked at by critics and fans as one of the best to ever play in the National Hockey League, and is almost always in the conversation with Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur as the game's GOAT at strapping on the pillows.
But one former teammate of Hasek's doesn't exactly have the greatest review of how he was as a teammate during their time together.
Former Buffalo Sabres forward Matthew Barnaby, who played with Hasek from 1993 through 1999, had some very surprising things to say.
To start with, Barnaby made it clear that he believes that Hasek is the best goaltender in League history.
In my opinion, people can point to Marty Brodeur or Patrick Roy and listen; if you played with them, I understand; we always have loyalty that way. Dom is by far, in my opinion, the best goaltender to ever f-king play the game. To me, there's no one even close. Not even remotely close.
However, Barnaby then completely pivoted by saying that his personal opinion of Hasek is far different.
Dominik is the best of all time, but teammate? Damn, the s-t I saw this guy do and pull with teammates and fans. Listen, he's not a great dude at all, and I say great that's not what I want to use. This guy could be a serial douchebag at times.
Without providing any specific examples, it's evident that Barnaby may hold Hasek's statistics in the highest possible light, but personally, sees him in a far lower light - and concluded with an astonishing statement.
Now, I'm sure he's 75 years old now and a lot better, but no, I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
