It's good to see that a handful of former Detroit Red Wings players are tearing it up in their new careers playing overseas outside of the National Hockey League.
The National Hockey League careers of a handful of former
Detroit Red Wings players may be through, but it doesn't mean they haven't found success playing back overseas.
Zadina remains a polarizing figure for Red Wings fans; he was Detroit's 1st pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and was a single selection ahead of University of Michigan defenseman
Quinn Hughes.
However, he never panned out for the Red Wings and was later traded to the San Jose Sharks. He departed the NHL after having 91 points (41G, 50A) in the NHL.
Now with Davos HC, Zadina has 32 points (21G, 11A) in 36 games.
Traded by the Red Wings to the divisional foe Ottawa Senators in 2023 for
Alex DeBrincat, Kubalik never meshed with Ottawa and wasn't re-signed after scoring just 11 goals in his final year in the NHL.
Currently with Ambri-Piotta, Kubalik has 41 points (24G, 17A) in 45 games.
Czarnik split the last 2 years between the Red Wings and Grand Rapids Griffins, and like Kubalik and Zadina, now plays in the top Swiss League.
He has 49 points (17G, 32A) in 43 games for SC Bern.
