Intriguing proposal sees Sidney Crosby traded to the Detroit Red Wings: It would be a steal for Yzerman

The Detroit Red Wings have aspirations of a playoff run, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in the midst of a rebuild.

In Kyle Dubas' hubris, could he get rid of the Penguins' own Captain, Sidney Crosby? Crosby would elevate the Red Wings' game, but it would come at a cost.

What would a trade for Sidney Crosby from the Pittsburgh Penguins look like? Well, it'd include a 1st-round pick in any scenario, along with an NHLer at the least attached and a prospect.

Heavy.com's proposal seems modest for what we'd think it would take to get a deal done.

Though with Crosby's leverage, it would lower his value a bit. Similar to when the Chicago Blackhawks dealt their franchise legend Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers in exchange for a second-round pick and minimal assets.

The Red Wings would receive a three-time Stanley Cup champion and icon in the NHL if they were able to complete this deal.

The Red Wings would have flexibility in the lineup, in addition to a true 1C and 2C punch down the middle.

Adding Crosby elevates the Red Wings to levels never seen before, and his skills and passion could light a fire missing in the current lineup.

Last season in the NHL, he scored a total of 91 points (33-58) and is entering year 1 of his $8.7 million AAV contract with the Penguins. With consistent rumors surrounding Evgeni Malkin, you have to ponder whether or not Crosby will truly retire in Pittsburgh.

As Kyle Dubas deconstructs the team, JT Compher would add help down the middle, along with the team's addition of a draft pick to restock the prospect pool.

The Red Wings wouldn't be a Stanley Cup contender right away, but adding Crosby would be another piece in the puzzle needed to get there.
