Is Cossa ready to make the jump to the Red Wings next season?
The Red Wings have arguably the No. 1 NHL goalie prospect in Sebastian Cossa.
Cossa spent this season in the AHL as the Griffins No. 1 goalie and had an incredible year despite being eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs a few days ago. The 21-year-old goaltender played in 49 games this season for the Griffins with an incredible 2.72 GAA.
Now the plan is for Cossa to train hard this summer as he hopes to make the jump to the NHL next season. As the Red Wings are in desperate need of a goaltender and Cossa seems to be ready for the NHL, this looks like the perfect match for the 2024-25 season.
«Obviously that's the goal: you want to play at the highest level possible that you can,» Cossa said. «There's still a lot of work ahead of me and I'm excited for that, honestly. You obviously want to play at the highest level you can, but knowing my position, I'm not gonna be angry with wherever I am next year and just continuing to look to develop and win a lot of hockey games next year.»
While Cossa still has a lot of time to develop since he is still so young, the best place for that might be the NHL since he has been so dominant in the AHL this season.
