It sounds like the Detroit red wings are acquiring Sam Bennett in free agency

The Detroit Red Wings and Steve Yzerman could find a way to sign the Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett in the offseason, who's a pending UFA.
The Detroit Red Wings need help up front, on the blue line, and in the crease. But one main piece missing is the top six, where the team lacks punch. Detroit Hockey Now's own Kevin Allen believes the
Red Wings are in on Sam Bennett.
That could be solved when Steve Yzerman could allocate a significant amount of the salary cap to acquiring Florida Panthers Center Sam Bennett.
Not only would that line be quick, but it'd have some extra size and physicality down the middle. Bennett would be another goal-scoring option on the line as well, as he's scored 51 points this season (25-26).
He'd occupy space on the ice and wouldn't be afraid to lay hits, as he added 145 on the ice as well.
The only question left is, what would the cap space to acquire him look like? His $4.425 million AAV contract expires, and Steve Yzerman won't be able to cut a team-friendly deal with him.
NHL Insider and Fantasy Hockey Guru Michael Amato of Sportsnet believes that teams could offer him $7 million over seven years.
That is reasonable and affordable, seeing as
Sam Reinhart was paid $8.6 million over eight years.
$7 million AAV would neither break the Red Wings' bank by acquiring him for that much, and it wouldn't hold back the rebuild, given he'd be settling in on at the 2C position.
Of course, we don't know the true deal until it happens, but $7Mx7 is speculation which could come to fruitiion if Yzerman wants another star in the lineup.
