The Detroit Red Wings have been deemed a potential landing spot for a Vancouver Canucks player set to hit free agency.
Adding a top-six player is only one item on Steve Yzerman's list, but it's a big one.
During the season, Wings players showed that they couldn't do the job. Captain
Dylan Larkin went as far as
blaming Steve Yzerman for not acquiring a player at the trade deadline during his end-of-season media availability.
Yzerman must address his team's needs, and a new report suggested that he should go after a Vancouver Canucks player set to hit free agency:
Brock Boeser.

Adding Boeser to the team is the kind of move that would help the franchise bounce back from its long playoff drought.
The 28-year-old veteran is set to hit free agency after 10 years with the Canucks, who drafted him 23rd overall in 2015.
Like the rest of his team, Boeser struggled last season, scoring 50 points - his lowest total since the 2021-22 season - failing to meet the high expectations he set in the previous season, when he reached the 40-goal mark.
At the end of last season, Boeser was honest about his future, when he stated that he didn't think he would reach a deal to extend his journey in Vancouver:
"Honestly, it's unlikely at this point. It [stinks]. It's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. There's been a lot of different things."
Many teams are likely to be interested in Boeser. If the Red Wings truly want him, they could decide to part ways with a draft pick or two to acquire his signing rights from the Vancouver Canucks on the trade market before July 1st.
