The Detroit Red Wings continue their ascension under new head coach Todd McLellan, who has led them to 4 straight wins since taking over for the terminated Derek Lalonde on December 26.
While the Red Wings were defeated in their initial game with McLellan behind the bench 5-2 by the Toronto Maple Leafs, it was on short notice in terms of being able to get a full practice in.
Now that McLellan and new assistant Trent Yawney have had time to run full practice sessions and implement their systems, the difference between how the team has performed under the two respective coaches is almost night and day.
In fact, several players have stepped up their own personal statistical outputs since the change was made.
In the 5 games that McLellan has coached, the following players have produced the following:
-Patrick Kane has 7 points (3G, 4A)
-Dylan Larkin has 7 points (4G, 3A)
-Alex Debrincat has 7 points (4G, 3A)
-Jonatan Berggren has 3 points (2G, 1A)
According to Berggren,, there's more confidence and attack in the Red Wings' overall play on the ice under McLellan.
