Marco Kasper's fate at winning the Calder trophy has officially been determined

Lane Hutson's rookie season with the Montreal Canadiens was nothing short of historic, and he was rewarded with the Calder Trophy.

The NHL announced the news in a touching video posted on X:

After Hutson, second place went to Calgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf. Many expected him to finish third, behind Macklin Celebrini, but he ended up collecting four more first-place votes than the San Jose Sharks forward. Matvei Michkov and Cutter Gauthier rounded out the top five.

Further down, at the 10th spot, we find Detroit Red Wings forward Marco Kasper, and many believe it's too low for the season he had.

The Austrian center delivered a solid all-around rookie campaign, scoring 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in 77 games.

Kasper's relentless forechecking, physical play, and ability to adapt to different roles made him a valuable asset throughout the year. While he may not have posted eye-popping numbers like some of the top contenders, his consistency and impact at both ends of the ice arguably deserved more recognition.

In total, he received seven points in the Calder voting, all last-place votes.
