Patrick Kane reportedly willing to turn his back on the Detroit Red Wings in free agency: per report
A new report has unveiled that former Red Wing, Patrick Kane, is willing to turn his back on Detroit in free agency.
Former Red Wing,
Patrick Kane, is going to be hitting the market this summer as he becomes a pending unrestricted free agent, and new insight has revealed that this forward is expected to turn his back on Detroit if push comes to shove.
Kane would undoubtedly like to win another Stanley Cup, and if the
Detroit Red Wings don't make some significant moves this offseason, the forward is suggested to look to sign with a contending organization.
Even at 36-years old, Kane is suggested to receive an immense amount of interest this offseason, as the veteran can bring a lot to the table offensively.
Just last season, Kane recorded 21 goals, and 59 points within just 72 games with the Red Wings, and he will be seeking for a one, or two-year contract on the open market.
Let's look at some teams who may be very interested in this veteran once free agency hits on July 1.
The Leafs have previously shown interest in Kane, and adding a winner in Kane could go a long way to getting this team over the hump.
Additionally, considering how stale their offence went during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, adding Kane could be the perfect addition to help change the makeup of their roster.
The Panthers are currently in a sticky position as they currently have a strong offence, yet, the organization will need to resign a lot of these players this summer.
If Florida decides to part ways with players like
Brad Marchand this offseason, Kane could offer the team a skilled forward who would come in at a much lower AAV.
One of the Jets' top-forwards,
Nikolaj Ehlers, is expected to hit the open market this offseason, and he could very well sign elsewhere.
This would ultimately open up a left-wing position amongst Winnipeg's top six for Kane to occupy, and this could most likely offer the veteran a postseason position.
The Kings are in desperate need for more scoring, and Kane could do just that.
Los Angeles has the cap space to spend and they have a winning team looking to make the next step.
