The New York Rangers are going through an inexplicable struggle that's threatening to derail their entire season before the calendar even hits 2025.
Not only have they gone 3-10 in their last 13 games, but they've also traded now-former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks; their Original 6 rival Detroit Red Wings were rumored to have shown interest in the Michigan native, but no deal was ultimately worked out.
But things continue to get ugly behind the scenes for the Rangers, who are already rumored to be looking to ship more players out of town and even potentially make a coaching change.
Rangers players were reportedly unhappy with how Trouba was traded, and also didn't like how Chris Kreider's name was being included in alleged rumors.
According to NHL analyst Steve Dangle (also known for his eponymous podcast), the Rangers players are essentially mutinying against Drury and want him to either adjust how he's running the club, or to leave.
Red Wings fans certainly remember Chris Drury well for his days with the former bitter rival Colorado Avalanche; he won the Calder Trophy in 1999 and played a role in their postseason wins over Detroit that year and the following year.
Detroit got their revenge on Drury and the Avalanche in the legendary seven-game Western Conference Final in 2002; Drury was later traded to the Calgary Flames.
