There will be a bidding war for pending UFA forward Mitch Marner this summer, who has revealed a pair of teams that he wouldn't mind signing with right now.
It's going to be one of the biggest storylines during the summer - where will pending Toronto Maple Leafs UFA forward Mitch Marner play next year?
After yet another extremely disappointing Game 7 loss for the Maple Leafs, their 7th straight, speculation began building for Marner and where he could choose to sign during the summer.
The Detroit Red Wings are one team expected to be in the mix for Marner, along with clubs like the Chicago Blackhawks, Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles Kings.
The newly renamed Utah Mammoth have even been suggested as a potential fit for Marner.
But based on the latest report, the chances of the Red Wings landing Marner through free agency don't appear to be very strong. Per top NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, the Golden Knights and Panthers are said to be at the top of Marner's wish list.
Even so, Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving said that talks are ongoing between himself and Marner's representatives on a potential new deal that would keep him in Toronto.

Marner reached a new career-best in points with 102 (27G, 75A) in 81 games, but vanished in the final 4 games of the postseason against the Panthers with only a single assist.
