Sons of Detroit Red Wings' Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat have formed a heart-warming bond
Formerly teammates with the Chicago Blackhawks, Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane are now Hockeytown Heroes with the Detroit Red Wings - and their special connection has extended into a special friendship between their sons.
You can bet that former Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat had a hand in convincing Patrick Kane to sign with the Detroit Red Wings nearly one year ago, as well as sign a one-year contract extension over the summer.
As fate would have it, the sons of both players have formed a special bond of their own.
Two-year-old Archie DeBrincat and four-year-old Patrick Kane III are frequently seen together before and after games, giving fist bumps to Red Wings players.
The elder Kane spoke glowingly about the connection between the pair of youngsters, saying how special it was that the organization is family oriented.
It's fun to see Patrick and Archie enjoy coming to the games so much. It's such a great privilege the Red Wings allow them to be outside the locker room when we come back for warmups and give the players fist bumps.
I know Patrick enjoys it so much and looks forward to every game he can come to. And the next day when I ask him what his favourite part of the game was, he always says, 'playing hockey with my friend Archie.'
And Alex loves seeing how excited they get about the game he plays for a living.
They are just two young kids who love hockey and get fired up when they see the players.
It's cool to have them enjoy it and get excited when they see us come off the ice. It's been a blast to see them play together and have fun.
The Red Wings do a great job of fostering a family atmosphere for their players!
