The Detroit Red Wings don't have much luck in the way of keeping their players healthy, as the team has suffered an abundance of injuries, with Patrick Kane and Lucas Raymond being the most prolific players to be sidelined this year.

No one expected the team to pull off a 2-1 win in OT against their divisional rivals, the Tampa Bay Lightning, on the 17th, but they did.
In doing so, after losing Lucas Raymond, the injuries would begin to pile up as the team lost forward Patrick Kane after he crashed into the boards (this team can't catch a break). The news was unwelcome, as the 36-year-old had been a point-per-game player this year, scoring 5 points (2-3) in 5 games for the Red Wings.
The team has been lucky, as the depth has been able to hold fast, as Todd McLellan made the decision to promote Mason Appleton to the 1st-line, while Kane is out with an upper-body injury.
Upon Raymond's return, though, he'd be shifted downward, playing with Marco Kasper and Alex DeBrincat, breaking a strong chemistry he built with Captain Dylan Larkin over the years.
While Raymond's return is exciting news, the team remains without Kane, who is still recovering from an upper-body injury and won't be slotting in tonight against the St. Louis Blues.
Since then, Kane has yet to play. According to PuckPedia, Kane will not play in the Red Wings' next contest against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. While there has been some progress in his recovery, he likely won't be playing any time soon.

The Detroit Red Wings Make Due Without Patrick Kane

The team hopes that Kane will be able to join them on the upcoming road trip to the West.
Though there's speculation that he could return to the Red Wings lineup on November 4th, that is still quite a way away, especially when the Atlantic Division is so competitive.
We're not certain what has caused him to stay out of the lineup longer than we expected, but we hope for a return to the lineup soon.
The team shouldn't rush it, however, as Mason Appleton has found a new home on the 1st-line as a gritty forward who can create space for Emmitt Finnie to work his magic.
