Tonight's match against the Toronto Maple Leafs intensified when forward Lucas Raymond ran into Anthony Stolarz's head; the Detroit Red Wings forward would have to answer the bell.

The Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs rivalry has been well established in league history.
Tonight was a continuation of the battle between the Original Six teams, as the Red Wings hope to find themselves in the playoffs this year.
This momentum was clipped as forward Lucas Raymond ran into Anthony Stolarz's head after a failed attempt to crash the net. He'd end up having to answer the bell, with defenseman Morgan Rielly grabbing him, attempting to make him pay for his brutal hit on the Maple Leafs' goalie.

The Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs Continue Rivalry Tonight

Raymond would be penalized for the goaltender interference at 18:80 into the first period.
Morgan Rielly would receive a roughing penalty against the Red Wings forward, and the Maple Leafs wouldn't be able to convert on the power play. This is fortunate news for the Wings, who are already down by 1 point when this article was written.
With the 2nd period nearly at an end, needless penalties such as Raymond's haven't helped the team tonight.
If they are to become the playoff team they want to be, discipline will be of the utmost importance, and finishing a play doesn't mean ending the play by steamrolling into the opposition's head.
The Red Wings are 3-3-0 in the preseason, with a 1-2-0 away record in the NHL this year.
