The Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wing Combine For History In The Wrong For The First Time Since 1967

The
Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins have a lot in common. They're both original-six clubs led by their GMs who once wore the uniforms of the teams they've built.
Unfortunately, even with players like David Pastrnak and Patrick Kane on the roster, fate comes for us all.
Now, as
the Toronto Maple Leafs, led by Craig Berube, head to the postseason, their rivals, the Red Wings and Bruins, will head to the golf course.
This hasn't happened since the 1967 season, which the Toronto Maple Leafs won a Stanley Cup, if you don't remember the quips on Twitter, "1967".
For Steve Yzerman, who has been in charge of the team since 2019, this is a bad look as this is the sixth season without a ride to the playoffs for the Wings.
Adding Patrick Kane,
Alex DeBrincat, and
Vladimir Tarasenko seemed like good signings. However, unlike Stanley Cup winning teams of the past, the depth isn't there in the lineup to compensate for a top-heavy team, with a lack of blue line talent, and miserable goaltending.
The last time the Detroit
Red Wings won a Stanley Cup, Nicklas Lidstrom was the team's top defenseman, and Pavel Datsyuk scored 97 points in 2007-2008.
For anyone with some sense, this is a bad omen, and Yzerman needs to get busy during the offseason.
There are some silver linings there, we suppose.
