The Detroit Red Wings have announced a major signing today as the team and GM Steve Yzerman welcome Michigan defenseman Jacob Truscott to the organization.

Jacob Truscott will be joining the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL, as they have signed him to a two-year deal that begins during the 2025-2026 season.
Truscott was originally selected 144th overall in 2020 by the Vancouver Canucks but would never sign his ELC as the team shifted priorities.
This year, he finished his fifth season at Michigan, scoring 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) in 36 games as Michigan's captain.
He earned a spot on the Big Ten's Honorable Mention All-Star Team, while he won two Big Ten Championships with the team during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons.
He joins former Red Wing Luke Glending as the only other player to serve as Captain two-times, from 2023 to 2025.
Truscott originally began his journey to professional hockey with the US NTDP and graduated to the U18 US National Team in 2019-2020.
This is a homecoming for the Port Huron, MI native, as he played with the Little Caesar's U14 and U15 clubs from 2016-2018 alongside fellow prospect, Carter Mazur.
The former Canucks prospect is no stranger to international play, as he played in the 2022 WJC. With Team USA in 2019, he notched a +3 rating, 1 assist, and five PIMS in the U17 challenge.
Now he'll get a shot to make the Detroit Red Wings if he can climb the depth chart and show the organization what he's made of.
