The Detroit Red Wings have issued a major statement on NHL legend Gordie Howe
The Red Wings issued a statement this morning, Monday, March 31st, on social media, involving the historic Detroit legend, Gordie Howe.
The legend was born March 31, 1927, in Floral Saskatchewan, who is also known as '
Mr. Hockey', due to his impeccable history in the game.
His legendary career spanned through the duration of an astonishing five decades, cementing this former player as one of the biggest sport's all-time icons.
Howe's debute with the Detroit Red Wings was in 1946, when he was 18-years old, he quickly showcased his rare blend of toughness, skill, and longevity.
Within 25 years with the Red Wings, he led the team to four Stanley Cup championships (1950,1952,1954,1955), and received six Hart Trophies as the NHL's MVP, most valuable player.
Gordie Howe's career points
Howe accumulated a show-stopping record within his time in the NHL.
He retired in 1980, with 801 goals, a record at the time, and an outstanding 1,850 points, trailing only Wayne Gretzky today.
His opponents not only feared his skill, but also his physicality, which was later labelled as the 'Gordie Howe hat trick,' a goal, an assist, and a fight in one game.
This unbelievable player made his presents into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972, where his legacy with the Detroit Red Wings and his gameplay remains to be untouchable.
