Veteran free agent forward Patrick Kane is eager to extend his NHL career following a strong 59-point season, with or without the Detroit Red Wings.

After overcoming a hip injury, Kane joined the Red Wings on a one-year deal and contributed to their best point-totaled season since 2017, with 91 points in their 82 games.
As he approaches free agency this summer, Kane is open to re-signing with Detroit, where he enjoyed
Over the past two seasons, he recorded 41 goals and 106 points in 122 games, including 45 points in 42 games under new head coach Todd McLellan.
However, Kane's impressive season in Detroit has reportedly drawn attention from other teams, some of which may offer a better shot at the Stanley Cup, which could change his thoughts on a return to Detroit.
The Red Wings, led by McLellan and Steve Yzerman have both voiced their willingness to keep Kane on the roster and to work out a new contract extension this summer.

Kane evaluating options as a free agent

Kane will evaluate his options as a free agent, both he and the Red Wings are interested in working out an extension, with negotiations anticipated to take place soon.
It's all in the hands of Steve Yzerman to secure Kane to a new contract, in hopes to have him along for a strong playoff push in the coming season.
