Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan disciplined a young forward at practice who appears to be out of the lineup for the next game after the 5-0 blowout loss on Thursday.

The team was back at practice today, and a player who's been going through a tough stretch appeared to be left out of the lineup during line rushes.

Todd McLellan Makes A Decision On Marco Kasper Amid Tough Stretch

Indeed, Marco Kasper, who hasn't been producing any offense in the last ten games and registered a -6 rating, was replaced in the lineup by Michael Rasmussen during practice.
Per Ansar Khan:
Last night, after the game, McLellan shared his unfiltered opinion on Kasper's performances:
"I think it's obvious, it's not where it needs to be. But it's difficult when you've entered the league and a lot of good things have happened for you, and then you come back, and all that momentum goes away.

But confidence isn't something that's in your back pocket and you just lose it at the mall or leave it in your car. Over time, it erodes, and you've got to find ways to stop the momentum and get it back. And he's frustrated, he got in a fight at the end of the game, and maybe that will trigger it.

I know, he knows, and his teammates know he's a better player than what we have right now. Everyone has to participate in cracking that nut, including Marco.... we need the best from him, and right now he doesn't look like the same player."

After a promising second half of last season, Kasper's performances this season haven't met expectations with only three points, all goals, in 21 games.
It'll be interesting to see if he's officially scratched from the lineup for Saturday afternoon's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
