The Red Wings lost their chances on Tuesday, April 8, in a 4-1 defeat against the Montreal Canadiens, and Detroit's head coach, Todd McLellan, seemingly put the blame on one specific player.

Last night's match-up was truly unbearable for Detroit fans, as the team originally had the upper hand in the first-period, and quickly lost it within just the matter of minutes.
However, following the game, a Red Wings reporter suggested that the team's head coach, Todd McLellan, put the blame of the final score on one specific forward during a play in the second period.
With a minute left in the second period, the Detroit Red Wings forward, J.T. Compher, seemingly choked up in the midst of a wide open net.

Take a look:
Within this point of the game, the contenders were tied, 1-1, which also played a huge factor in the overall disappointment in Compher, and McLellan sure didn't forget to bring it up to reporters.

Todd McLellan calls out J.T. Compher

«I'd honestly look at our missed opportunities. Wide open net J.T. has it, would've given us a chance to push the game in our favor, take the lead. It's going to haunt them, J.T.'s going to be thinking about the wide open net.»
McLellan is known for giving out completely unfiltered criticism, and this situation isn't any different.
The team was in dire need for this win, due to their current standings behind the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Wild Card division, his overall frustrations definitely have reasoning.
However, McLellan didn't hold back towards Compher's teammates either.
Regardless of the tough love displayed by McLellan, his emotions are valid due to the unfortunate aspect that the Red Wings are almost guaranteed to miss out on yet another year of playoff contention.
But, do you think Todd McLellan was too harsh?
