New insight has unveiled that Detroit Red Wings head coach, Todd McLellan, is unhappy with top players within the organization, due to their underwhelming performances.

The Detroit Red Wings will be walking into the upcoming 2025/26 NHL season with hopes of breaking their nine-year postseason absence before the team strikes a decade.
Yet, arguably, it's already not looking too promising for this Original Six organization.
Following the Red Wings undergoing a 2-1 setback against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Little Caesars Arena on Monday, September 29, frustrations were high.
These frustrations were extremely evident, especially for head coach, Todd McLellan.

"I wasn't really impressed with our team, to be quite honest," McLellan said. "I thought we looked slow and sloppy. I don't know which caused what."

While preseason games are generally an opportunity for teams to assess their younger talents, the Detroit Red Wings had a strong lineup, with plenty of NHL level players.
The organization's roster skilled and experienced players, such as Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, Marco Kasper, Moritz Seider, J.T. Compher, Erik Gustafsson, Justin Holl, and Jonatan Berggren.
Despite McLellan not listing names, it was clear who this bench boss was directing his message to.
"Some of the older players have to get their games going quickly. Almost a week from today or tomorrow we're playing against really, really good teams," he said. "Some guys, in my opinion after watching them tonight, some have only played a couple of games and aren't ready to play yet."

The Detroit Red Wings still have immense work to do if they intend to become contenders for the upcoming season, and it seems as though Todd McLellan's frustration levels have already hit a high before the season has even begun.
Do you think the Detroit Red Wings will undergo a stronger 2025/26 season comparatively to their last?
