Trevor Zegras to Conceivably Receive Suspension by NHL After Hit to Head on Red Wings Forward
Michael Rasmussen was hurt after taking a blatant head shot from Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras, and amazingly, no penalty was called on the play.
The NHL is attempting to ween out hits to the head from their game, but they failed to punish a clear example of said that resulted in an injury.
During this evening's game at Little Caesars Arena between the
Detroit Red Wings and Anaheim Ducks, Ducks forward Trevor Zegras hurt
Michael Rasmussen with a blindside hit to the head.
Rasmussen fell to the ice and the play was soon whistled; Rasmussen needed assistance from team trainer Piet van Zandt, and left the game and returned to the dressing room.
Red Wings coach Todd McLellan was understandably angered not only about the hit but that there was no penalty called.
While some may accuse Rasmussen of not paying attention to the impending hit and instead admiring his pass, there's no reason why Zegras wasn't at least assessed a 2-minute minor.
Be sure to stay tuned for any further updates on Rasmussen as they become available.
