Troubling Update On Detroit Red Wings Forward Lucas Raymond May Change Trade Deadline Plans
In what could be troubling news for the Detroit Red Wings, superstar Lucas Raymond looks like he may be injured.
Lucas Raymond and the Detroit Red Wings were unable to defeat Rod Brind'Amour's Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
They fell 2-1, and even worse there could be a significant injury to forward Lucas Raymond who was hit by center
Jordan Staal of the Hurricanes.
The hit occurred within the last ten seconds of the third period between the two teams.
It'd be a "high-hit" from Staal which would level Raymond and send him down to the ice.
After the hit chaos would ensue, as a scrum would take place in front of the net. No fists would fly, but tensions flared at the end, as Staal will be remembered for his longevity in the NHL, but also his dirty style of play.
This is troubling news for the Detroit Red Wings, and a significant loss if Raymond is out for any particular amount of time.
The wildcard spot in the East is a fragile spot to hold, considering how competitive both the Metropolitan and Atlantic Divisions are firing on all cylinders.
The Red Wings after tonight are 30-25-6 and 4th in the Atlantic Division.
They could be without Lucas Raymond too, who in 61 games for the Red Wings has scored 63 points (22 G, 41 A).
In the summer with the Red Wings, he signed an eight-year $64.6 million deal and has been a fixture in the top-six, since he arrived in Detroit.
Without Raymond can they still be a competitive team?
