With strong performances from Patrick Kane, Lucas Raymond, and Dylan Larkin in 2023-24, the team hopes others will push for playoff hockey in 2025.

However, making the playoffs remains challenging, especially with other Atlantic Division teams like the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins also making strong moves. The Detroit Red Wings' success could hinge on avoiding regression from key players, particularly Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat.
Patrick Kane: Despite an impressive comeback from hip surgery, Patrick Kane is a regression candidate. His 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games exceeded expectations, with underlying metrics suggesting he may have overperformed. While his skill and experience could keep him productive, there's a risk he won't replicate last season's success.
Alex DeBrincat: After being traded to the Detroit Red Wings, DeBrincat had a solid season with 27 goals and 67 points, but his analytics also indicate overperformance. The gap between his actual and expected goals suggests he could face challenges in maintaining his production. Consistency will be key if Alex DeBrincat is to return to his 40-goal form, but there's a possibility of regression.
The Detroit Red Wings' playoff aspirations could be influenced by whether these players continue to thrive or experience setbacks in the 2024-25 season.
