The NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that a trade will happen in Detroit, and that fans should get ready to say goodbye to three Red Wings players.

The Detroit Red Wings are off to a surprising start to the 2025-26 season, with only one loss after six games.
Although many analysts believed the team would struggle this year due to the rookies entering the lineup and last season's tough performance in Detroit, the team has been performing well, defying all expectations.
However, that doesn't mean trades won't happen to make the team even better.
Indeed, Elliotte Friedman confirmed that three players could leave the team this year.

Three Players On The Trade Block In Detroit, Per Elliotte Friedman

Over the past week, multiple reports confirmed that Travis Hamonic, Jonatan Berggren, and Erik Gustafsson were being shopped by Yzerman, including this one from David Pagnotta:
"There is some talk that the Wings are looking at and are open to moving some of their defencemen, and I think there's mutual interest there from the player side of things.

Those are a couple of veteran pieces it doesn't look like there's much room for some of these guys. I think they've started to explore that possibility of moving them or at least letting everybody know that there's some availability there.

They've got a bunch of different pieces that they're willing to explore. But because of the plethora of guys on that backend, don't be surprised to hear guys like Hamonic and Gustafsson's names out there, especially in the next little bit."
Now, Elliotte Friedman confirmed the news in the latest 32 Thoughts, adding that the players could end up being traded for draft picks, which could get flipped later:
It wouldn't be surprising to see the three players leave soon. In Detroit, there's no room for them in the lineup anymore.
