Longtime NHL Veteran Officially Announces His Retirement In Heartfelt Fashion

Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie has won a Stanley Cup in 2018 with Alex Ovechkin, and fast-forward 7 years later, he has issued an emotional, biting statement regarding his retirement.
Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie has retired from the NHL after playing 1,010 games in the league.
The forward split nine years of his career with the Capitals, and the beginning seven wearing a Blues uniform. Though he'd only attain the ultimate prize with Russian forward Alex Ovechkin as a teammate in the NHL.
Oshie would score a total of 695 points (303-392) during his 16-year career in the NHL.
His statement was clear and concise, and aimed at making sure his fans knew who he appreciated the most. While crediting his coaches, the equipment staff, and the Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues for giving him an opportunity in the league.
«After 17 unforgettable years in the NHL, I've decided to retire,» said Oshie in a prepared statement. «I would like to thank the Washington Capitals and the St. Louis Blues for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love, all of my teammates who battled with me every night, my coaches who challenged me to be better every day, and the athletic trainers and equipment staff who got me ready to play. I also want to thank the fans your energy and passion made every game memorable, and it was an honour to play in front of you.»
Congratulations on your retirement, TJ Oshie. It was an exciting 16-year run in the NHL.
Oshie leaves the league as a one-time Stanley Cup winner, an All-Star game attendee in 2020, and a Masterton Trophy nominee in 2024.
