Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew have tragically passed away in an accident
After a flood of rumors and speculation, it was tragically confirmed that Columbus Blue Jackets superstar Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew have sadly passed away after being struck by a drunk driver.
Initially, "sports reporter" Dylan H. Robillard posted a tweet that caused widespread concern due to the lack of verified sources confirming the rumor. The tweet was quickly taken down after being posted.
While many were hoping for the best and urging others to wait for confirmation from reputable sources, the lack of updates throughout the night made it hard not to worry.
Sadly, the Columbus Blue Jackets' official X page (formerly Twitter) confirmed that Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaudreau tragically lost their lives due to a driver under the influence.
Johnny Gaudreau is survived by his wife Meredith and their two young children. The brothers leave behind their parents, Guy and Jane Gaudreau, and two sisters, Kristen and Katie. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to the entire Gaudreau family during this tough time. The hockey world has lost two great young men today, and the NHL will never be the same without them.
