We now know where Mitch Marner will go
According to recent reports, Mitch Marner is set to remain with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the upcoming season. NHL insider Chris Johnston disclosed that the Leafs pursued forward Jeff Skinner, hoping to place him alongside Auston Matthews and Marner. Despite a more lucrative offer from Toronto, Skinner opted for a one-year, $3 million deal with the Edmonton Oilers, where he will join Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
This indicates Toronto's commitment to Marner, even amidst trade rumors as he approaches the final year of his $10.9 million contract. Leafs coach Craig Berube highly regarded Marner, praising his character and skill and looking forward to coaching him.
The Leafs' failed attempt to acquire Skinner underscores their dedication to bolstering their lineup while retaining their key players, ensuring Marner remains a central figure in their plans.
