A huge mistake was made by Steve Yzerman this offseason
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, there's a belief that Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings may have undersold Jake Walman when trading him to the San Jose Sharks.
Despite Walman's significant role on Detroit's blue line alongside Moritz Seider, he was dealt to San Jose with a 2024 second-round draft pick for future considerations, a move that surprised many in hockey.
It's speculated that this trade was primarily a salary cap move. Walman, 28, still has two years left on his contract, with an annual average value of $3.4 million. Known for his on-ice contributions and popular "griddy" goal celebration, Walman quickly became a favourite among fans and teammates.
With his move to San Jose, he's expected to continue endearing himself to Sharks fans with his dynamic play and celebratory flair.
