A trending video has shown how badly defenseman Quinn Hughes wants out of the Vancouver Canucks organization.
In the past 24 hours, defenseman and former James Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes has drawn some criticism.
A video is trending where the Canucks defenseman is simply skating and failing to provide coverage in the defensive zone for his goaltender and his teammates. Is this going to fuel more trade momentum?
Simply floating around, skating, and doing cardio.
How badly does defenseman Quinn Hughes want out of the Vancouver Canucks organization?
We've seen this type of effort before from players who forced trades before, and now Hughes joins the ranks of the disengaged.
The World Hockey report provides a great caption of his "effort":
«I don't think Quinn Hughes wants to be in Vancouver anymore. Wtf is this effort.»
This low-effort play could be used as a pretext for a trade and could possibly force (this is speculation) Patrik Allvin's hand.
The chatter regarding a trade of Quinn Hughes has been increasing exponentially as NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reported on a link between the Vancouver Canucks and the Detroit Red Wings for a possibility of a trade.
If the team trades for the former 7th-round pick, they could find a way to right all of Ken Holland's wrongs. Hughes has played all of his 455 games in the NHL for the Canucks and won his first Norris Trophy in 2024.
The Red Wings selected forward Filip Zadina, who was a legitimate bust and is now playing in Switzerland.
The comments regarding the poor play have continued to multiply in the meantime:
'That is what being at the end of your run with a team, and the end of your two-minute shift looks like hahaha.' A few were upset with Hughes: «I'm serious, get this guy off my team. I don't care how good you are. This is unacceptable for anybody, but the captain of the team? Completely ridiculous.»
