The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that they will be able to count on the return of one of their top scorers ahead of Thursday's game against the Red Wings.
The last time they faced off, on November 22nd, the Wings were able to win 4-3 in overtime, but tonight, the Jackets could have the momentum, as they will be able to count on the return of one of their most productive forwards.
Blue Jackets' Top Forward Returns To Lineup Tonight Ahead Of Red Wings Matchup
Indeed, the Blue Jackets organization confirmed that Kirill Marchenko, who missed the last four games with an injury, will be back in the lineup tonight.
Marchenko suffered an upper-body injury during a team practice in the last week of November.
The forward is expected to return on the top line's right wing with Adam Fantilli and Dmitri Voronkov.
Dean Evason made the following comments about Marchenko returning to the lineup in a recent press conference:
"He's a good pro. He competes his butt off, so to have another proven NHL guy in our lineup is great."
In 22 games this season, Marchenko tallied 22 points, including eight goals, currently second in points on the Blue Jackets, only four points behind Zach Werenski.
In other news, Boone Jenner will miss his 11th straight game despite taking part in today's optional morning skate, Sean Monahan will play after leaving the last game, and Elvis Merzlikins will start between the pipes.
