Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat knows that he and his teammates have to put everything they've got into the next several games if they want to make the playoffs.
It's going to be a dog fight for the Detroit Red Wings from this point on until the end of the year. Currently 2 points out of the final Wild Card playoff spot in the East, the Red Wings play the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
The Red Wings are aiming for a better result this time around against the Capitals, who beat them 5-2 earlier in the month during Detroit's rough stretch of losing 6-straight games.
But thanks to wins over the Buffalo Sabres and Vegas Golden Knights, the Red Wings have now won 2-of-3.
They're essentially in the playoffs right now and need to keep that mentality, according to Detroit forward Alex DeBrincat.
Absolutely, I think it's the most fun time of the year. Other than the playoffs I'd say, but it's basically the playoffs for us. We need to win every game, and you feel that energy around the room. Everyone's ready to play, and tonight has to be another one of those where we come out strong and continue it all the way through the game.
I think we have to know we're going to make mistakes and we're not going to shut out every team, that's not the expectation. You're going to make mistakes but don't repeat them and try to manage the game as much as possible.
DeBrincat has been hot for the Red Wings, having already reached the 30-goal mark after scoring 27 last year.
He has 58 points (31G, 27A) in 67 games so far.
