NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman detailed what the Detroit Red Wings could offer the Vancouver Canucks to acquire defenseman Quinn Hughes.

With the talk of trade between the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks picking up, we have to wonder what the cost would be for defenseman Quinn Hughes.
What are the Canucks' needs first and foremost before the Red Wings approach the bargaining table? The team needs centers, as right now they only have Elias Pettersson and David Kampf as their true centers in the lineup.
Kampf, more or less, is a fourth-line placeholder for someone like Filip Chytil, who is out on injury.

What could the Detroit Red Wings trade for defenseman Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks?

With speculation being fueled by someone like Elliotte Friedman, who could the Red Wings trade for Quinn Hughes?
The cost is suggested to be a young center who could fit the retool timeline in Vancouver, say Marco Kasper, a former 8th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, who has plenty of upside still yet to tap into.
Last season, Kasper showed what he was capable of centering Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat, scoring 37 points (19-18), and putting himself into Calder Trophy consideration.
In addition to trading Marco Kasper, they would have to attach a draft pick or two in return for Hughes, who is a former Norris Trophy winner.
Either way, the Red Wings won't escape this trade without moving some younger assets or draft picks to acquire a top defenseman in the league.
