Moritz Seider's talent is getting the recognition it deserves around the NHL, as The Athletic confirmed he will be considered for major individual awards.

With 33 points, including seven goals, in 46 games so far this season, Moritz Seider stands fourth on the Wings for points, by far the best offensive contribution on the team from a defenseman.
He also leads the team for the goal differential, with +10. The next in line is Alex DeBrincat, who has a +5, and 49 points.
Indeed, he's on a league of his own in Detroit. Used 25:18 minutes on average per game this season, he also ranks 14th in the NHL in points among defensemen.

The Athletic Lists Moritz Seider Among Norris And Hart Trophies Candidates

Not many experts predicted the Wings would be among the top teams in the Atlantic Division and in a playoff spot at the start of the season.
That success can be attributed to many players' emergence.
John Gibson finally found his rhythm, the leaders like Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Larkin are producing, rookies are playing well, and the two top defensive pairs are bringing massive contributions.
Moritz Seider, being the most important player on that unit, has officially emerged among the top defensemen in the League, and the most valuable player for his team, making him an obvious candidate for the Norris and the Hart Trophies.
Players who win those awards are usually those who can take their team to the next level. Seider's fate in the Norris and Hart races will be linked to how the Red Wings end their season.
A downfall in the standings will cost him some votes, but a playoff spot could make voters think twice before voting for someone else.
