Detroit Red Wings acquire 980 game NHL veteran defenseman in proposed trade pitch

The Detroit Red Wings have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 9th consecutive year, and it goes without saying that there are some fans getting more and more restless with each year that goes on that their team isn't competing for hockey's ultimate prize.

Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman has plenty of decisions to make this summer when it comes to the makeup of the team that will hit the ice in the fall. But could they consider acquiring one particular NHL veteran currently playing in the postseason?

Thanks to the GM Mode for Puck Media, one particular trade proposal has caught our interest that involves Detroit picking up defenseman Justin Faulk from the St. Louis Blues in return for former 1st round pick Michael Rasmussen.

The suggested trade looks like this:

Faulk had 32 points this year (4G, 28A) for the St. Louis Blues and would bring a reliable option for Detroit on the back end.

Meanwhile, fans continue to await the breakout year for former 2018 1st round pick Michael Ramussen, who has yet to show that he's anything more than a checking forward capable of more than 30 points per year.
