Detroit Red Wings acquire a huge piece in Los Angeles: Defensive reinforcement incoming
The Detroit Red Wings' 2025 Draft pick Nikita Tyurin is developing nicely in the KHL, as the selection acquired in Los Angeles could be a nice reinforcement in the future.
Nikita Tyurin may be another late-draft bargain; the
Red Wings selected him 104th overall in 2025.
He's showing he's capable of punching above his weight in the KHL this season with HC Spartak.
He'd already been a key factor in the team winning the MHC Spartacus Cup.
What's Improved in Nikita Tyurin's Game?
For Nikita Tyurin, his vision of the ice has always been one of his strongest skills on the ice, along with his puck-moving abilities. But according to RWP, his skating has improved.
Tyurin is a 6-foot defenseman and has shown improvement in his physical play on the ice, which we saw during the match.
According to scouting reports we've seen on Dobber's, he's a reliable puck-moving defenseman, and his stats in last season's campaign with the Junior Spartak prove that to be true.
He played 50 games in the MHL with Spartak Moscow and posted 20 points (4-16), and he could turn into a great two-way defenseman by the time he arrives in Detroit.
This begins the tracking of Tyurin until he's a prospect who becomes ready to turn pro in the NHL/AHL, whichever comes first. But logic suggests he's headed to Grand Rapids to mature before he sets foot on
Red Wings ice.
His hockey career totals so far are 52 GP-20 points (4-16), 20 PIMs, and a +20 in the Rus-MHL.
